Lead­ers from South­east and South Asia are act­ing both il­le­gal­ly and im­moral­ly by not help­ing Ro­hingya “boat peo­ple”.

The in­ter­na­tion­al com­mu­ni­ty must con­tin­ue its ef­forts to in­ves­ti­gate and pros­e­cute the Myan­mar army’s crimes.

The army’s pow­er grab is not only de­stroy­ing democ­ra­cy, it may also lead to an­oth­er on­slaught against the Ro­hingya.

Aban­doned by the in­ter­na­tion­al com­mu­ni­ty, the Ro­hingya have only one glim­mer of hope: in­ter­na­tion­al jus­tice.

The ICJ’s or­der that Myan­mar does all it can to pre­vent geno­cide of­fers the Ro­hingya hope for the fu­ture.

It is not enough to end the vi­o­lence against the Ro­hingya. Far more must be done to en­sure their safe­ty in Myan­mar.

The UN Se­cu­ri­ty Coun­cil must re­fer the Ro­hingya’s case to the In­ter­na­tion­al Crim­i­nal Court.
