Tomer Shor
Tomer Shor is the Founder and CEO of Tunefork, an Israeli audio personalization technology company that improves quality of life through enhanced hearing experiences. With over 9 years of experience in entrepreneurship and technology leadership, Tomer has pioneered breakthrough solutions in assistive hearing technology, earning international recognition for his work in making audio accessible to people with hearing impairments.
Tomer has been leading Tunefork since its founding in March 2016, during which time he has successfully raised over $3.5 million in funding and generated more than $200,000 in revenue to date. Under his leadership, Tunefork won second place in the Special Award: Innovation for Disability category at the 2019 FT/IFC Transformational Business Awards in London, one of the world’s most prestigious impact-driven awards programs.
The company’s patented technology (US10368154B2) creates personalized audio profiles based on individual “earprints”, revolutionizing how people with hearing loss experience digital audio across devices. Both founders, CEO Tomer Shor and CTO Yoav Blau, have people close to them with hearing disabilities – Tomer’s father and Yoav’s wife. This personal connection drives Tunefork’s mission to improve the quality of life for millions affected by hearing impairment.
As Cofounder and CEO, Tomer oversees a team of 10 employees across offices in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, managing product development, business strategy, and partnerships with global technology manufacturers. The company has raised $1.8 million through multiple funding rounds, including a $1.5 million seed round in June 2020 led by Triventures ARC, a joint fund between Triventures and Sheba Medical Center.
Tunefork’s investors include 8200 Impact, Arc Impact, MassChallenge, Sanara Ventures, and NEOME. The company won second place at the MassChallenge Israel Awards Celebration in September 2019 and has also won numerous other international startup competitions.
Prior to founding Tunefork, Tomer started his professional work as intelligence analyst and project manager at the IDF elite unit 8200. He served in the Israel Defense Forces from 2014 to 2017, holding dual roles as Intelligence Analyst and Project Manager.
During his service, he established a special team in the Cyber Defence Forces that creates cyber tools and intelligence products for protecting public assets from cyber attacks. The team he built included five soldiers with different skills, carefully selected to make the best team in the unit, and continues to operate today with significant recognition from senior military and government officials.
Through Tunefork, Tomer has developed breakthrough audio personalization technology that addresses a massive global market. The technology works by conducting a clinically accurate hearing test on a user’s smartphone, creating a personal audiogram that maps their unique “earprint” — similar to a fingerprint. This profile can then be integrated into any smart device or application to deliver customized audio experiences for phone calls, music, videos, GPS directions, and more.
Throughout his career, Tomer has demonstrated exceptional leadership in social impact technology. He was featured as a speaker at prestigious events, including the Unicorn Summit, where he shared insights on building impactful technology startups. He has been profiled in major publications including The Jerusalem Post, ISRAEL21c, and NoCamels. His work has also been featured in CTech by Calcalist and international media outlets.
As a thought leader in assistive technology and social entrepreneurship, Tomer has been recognized for his contributions to the Israeli startup ecosystem. He participated in the PresenTense accelerator program, which promotes entrepreneurship in Israel’s underserved communities, and was featured alongside other diverse Israeli entrepreneurs at events in Cambridge, Boston University, Harvard Hillel, and Brown University.
His company’s technology has been validated through clinical trials with Sheba Medical Center, ensuring medical-grade accuracy in their hearing assessment protocols.
Tomer’s skills include Social Impact entrepreneurship, Startup leadership, Product Management, Public Speaking, and Capital Raising. He has proven expertise in building and leading cross-functional teams, developing innovative technology solutions, and securing funding from leading investors.
His experience spans from intelligence analysis and cybersecurity to consumer technology and healthcare innovation, making him a versatile leader in the technology sector. Tomer resides in the Jerusalem area of Israel, where he continues to lead Tunefork’s mission to democratize access to personalized audio experiences. His personal connection to hearing disability through his father’s military service injury fuels his passion for creating technology that improves lives.
The company’s vision extends beyond commercial success to creating a meaningful social impact for the estimated 466 million people worldwide who have disabling hearing loss.
